Lightning

My feet stand in one place,

as I stare behind my eyelids.

The only sounds I hear,

are my heart and shouting kids.

I sigh and remember life.

How life was so simple back then.

I always wondered about things.

Like the new life I was getting in.

I can't believe the speed,

I can't believe the velocity.

I try to hold on, to hold on,

but my life is moving like lightning.

There's a whole new place.

I thought I knew what was going on.

But things change, really fast.

Looked like night, now it's dawn.

Being with old friends.

Singing a song or two.

While thinking of changes.

These changes were not few.

There were many changes,

New people and new school.

Three years have passed,

Good friends, all pretty cool.

I can't believe the speed,

I can't believe the velocity.

I try to hold on, to hold on,

but my life is moving like lightning.

My life was a bit dull.

Then it's suddenly moving.

At a fast pace, I can barely keep.

I barely know what I'm doing.

School's great, so are friends.

New book series that I like,

Breaking Dawn, part of the series;

it is making me psyched.

No longer a fan of Harry Potter,

Now I like Twilight.

Edward and Bella forever.

Great to read at night.

I can't believe the speed,

I can't believe the velocity.

I try to hold on to hold on,

but my life is moving like lightning.

I open my eyes then look.

A whole new different sighting.

Not in the place when I shut my eyes,

my life has flashed, like lightning.

DISCLAIMER: Technically I never stopped being a fan of Harry Potter. This was written back in 2008. And things really did fly by fast, since then it hasn't slowed down. I hope it keeps going fast because I miss some of my friends that are out of town right now. This poem is supposed to have a slightly lyrical kind of beat to it, can you tell?
